The project commenced in August 2021 and will reach completion by the end of July 2022. The Daceyville headquarters initiates a much bigger plan for Rugby in NSW, with Western Sydney to be a major focus. Dually, the focus will be on the Positive Rugby Foundation, one of the coterie arms aimed to grow investment in Western Sydney.
The new two-storey Centre of Excellence will feature a brand new international standard rugby field, a large-scale 500-metre square gym facility, three change rooms, medical and rehabilitation facilities, team theatrette, analysis room, recovery spaces, including hot and cold pools and sauna. It hosts administration spaces for the NSW Rugby Union (NSWRU) and the Waratahs.
The David Phillips Sports Complex project in Daceyville will service rugby around the state, becoming a central hub for games at all levels. The professional arm through to academy and grassroots programs will use the venue.
The facility will be a great asset in serving the community, creating foundational development pathways and contributing to the overall success of the Waratahs and grassroots rugby in NSW.
